2026 Insmed Summer Internship Program in AI-Based Protein Design

Insmed offers a 2026 Summer Internship Program focused on AI-Based Protein Design within their Research Team, reporting to the Senior Scientist of Deep Learning.

The internship is full-time (40 hours per week), paid ($20.00-$35.00 hourly), and fully remote, with potential occasional travel for team meetings.

Interns will apply AI to de-novo design and optimization of protein therapeutics, including building AI architectures to generate protein candidates guided by multiple protein properties, developing AI algorithms to predict protein properties, and curating datasets for AI training or fine-tuning.

Candidates should be current PhD or MS students in computational biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or related quantitative fields, with proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks like PyTorch, and a basic knowledge of protein science.

The program offers hands-on experience, mentorship from skilled professionals, team project contributions, networking, professional development, and a final presentation to celebrate contributions.

The opportunity emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration between computational and experimental colleagues to advance biotherapeutics discovery.

Additional programs in 2025 and 2026, such as those at NERSC and educational institutes, also focus on AI foundation models and biomolecular structure prediction related to protein design, highlighting a growing trend in integrating AI with protein and drug design fields.
