AstraZeneca Reaches Drug Pricing Deal with White House, Becomes Second Pharma to Do So

AstraZeneca became the second major pharmaceutical company, after Pfizer, to strike a drug pricing deal with the Trump administration in October 20251 4 7.

Under the agreement, AstraZeneca will offer drugs to every State Medicaid program at 'most-favored-nation' (MFN) prices, matching the lowest prices paid by other developed countries2 4 7.

The company will provide discounts of up to 80% off list prices for direct consumer sales on select drugs via a new government website, TrumpRx1 3 4 6.

TrumpRx is a government website meant to facilitate discount drug sales directly to consumers, bypassing traditional health insurance1 6 4.

Drugs covered include inhalers for COPD and asthma, such as Bevespi Aerosphere and Airsupra1 5 6.

AstraZeneca committed to expanding U.S. drug manufacturing and research as part of the deal1 5 6.

In exchange, AstraZeneca will receive a three-year exemption from certain U.S. tariffs related to pharmaceuticals1 7.

The MFN arrangement applies to both existing drugs sold to Medicaid and all new innovative medicines AstraZeneca launches in the U.S.2 7.
