Novartis Announces Plans to Lay Off 550 Workers at Swiss Factory
Novartis will cut up to 550 full-time jobs at its site in Stein, Switzerland by the end of 20271357.
The layoffs are due to the planned cessation of tablet and capsule production, as well as packaging of sterile medicines at the Stein plant13.
Novartis emphasized that these cuts are not linked to its U.S. expansion efforts13.
The company will invest $80 million to boost production capabilities at its Schweizerhalle site near Basel, aiming to create around 80 new jobs there by the end of 2028139.
Novartis stated that its Swiss facilities will continue to serve more than 120 countries despite these job reductions13.
