Lunit and Labcorp Partner to Transform Tumor Microenvironment Analysis with AI-Powered Digital Pathology
Lunit and Labcorp announced a strategic collaboration on November 17, 2025, to advance AI-powered digital pathology research focused on oncology.1256
The partnership leverages Labcorp’s clinical and pathology expertise together with Lunit’s advanced AI algorithms to transform analysis and interpretation of the tumor microenvironment, using techniques like high-resolution whole-slide imaging and AI-driven spatial profiling.165
Their initial collaborative studies were presented at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) and Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) conferences in November 2025.13
A key study demonstrated that Lunit’s AI could classify immune-active subtypes and predict therapy response for non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) with different MET gene alterations, such as exon 14 skipping and amplification.14
AI-based spatial profiling revealed inflamed tumor phenotypes associated with MET exon 14 skipping, often linked to better immunotherapy outcomes, and immune-desert phenotypes in MET-amplified tumors.14
Immune gene expression validation supported the accuracy of the AI-based immune phenotyping, suggesting the approach's utility for enhancing biomarker discovery and guiding personalized treatment decisions.14
Both companies aim to broaden their collaboration to apply digital pathology AI to additional cancer types and genomic contexts.1
Lunit SCOPE IO® and SCOPE uIHC, the AI tools behind these studies, are used to characterize tumor-immune interactions and identify predictive and therapeutic targets.3
The collaboration seeks to accelerate the integration of AI-powered digital pathology into both research paradigms and real-world clinical oncology practice.1256
