Schott Pharma Invests Over €100M in New Sterile Cartridge Facility at Hungary Site

Schott Pharma is investing more than €100 million (approx. $115 million) to build a new sterile ready-to-use (RTU) cartridge facility at its Lukácsháza, Hungary site134.

The expansion targets rising global demand for sterile drug containment solutions, particularly for diabetes, obesity, and immunological disease therapies such as GLP-1s, insulin, and hormone-based treatments135.

Construction has already started, with the project expected to create over 100 new jobs, adding to the site's current workforce of about 12013.

Once operational, the new facility will feature fully integrated and automated production lines—using advanced washing and steam sterilization systems—to ensure sterility and minimize environmental impact135.

This will be Schott Pharma's second plant producing sterile RTU cartridges, following its facility in St. Gallen, Switzerland135.

The project is supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, reinforcing Lukácsháza’s role in Schott Pharma’s global and regional supply chains35.

The investment follows the 2024 opening of a prefillable glass syringe unit at the same Hungarian site, aligning with Schott Pharma’s broader growth strategy in high-value pharmaceutical packaging135.
