Director/Vice President of Translational Research: Leading the Bridge from Discovery to Clinical Development
1. The Director/Vice President of Translational Research provides scientific leadership in areas of biomarker discovery, development, and translational science, working with cross-functional teams.
2. This role is responsible for building and leading a translational science team, collaborating with program leads, external consultants, and contract research organizations (CROs) to design and implement translational strategies for a company's portfolio.
3. Key responsibilities include developing models for robust decision-making, conceiving and executing translational strategies to advance discovery projects into clinical development programs, and overseeing the development of detailed work plans for clinical studies.
4. The position requires expertise in taking multiple development candidates to Investigational New Drug (IND) applications, developing clinical plans, and effectively communicating with regulatory agencies.
5. The successful candidate should have a PhD or MD/PhD in a life science discipline and 12+ years of industry experience, with a track record of effective leadership in building strong scientific teams.
6. Familiarity with therapeutic areas such as autoimmune disease, oncology, and monogenic rare diseases is considered a plus, along with demonstrated knowledge of small molecule drug development, biomarker discovery, and in vivo assessment of chemical matter.
7. The role involves fostering a culture of inclusion, scientific curiosity, and high performance within a team environment, as well as excellent communication skills with a proven ability to work with executive management.
